Grand Floridian Café (Lunch & Dinner) - Disney's Grand Floridian Resort
September 25, 2015
Here's a simple equation for how I feel about the Grand Floridian Cafe: One of Disney World's most gorgeous hotels + amazing gluten free options = one of my absolute favorite Disney restaurants! Located in Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, the Grand Floridian Cafe is the perfect place to escape the bustling parks and enjoy a quiet yet delicious lunch or dinner. The restaurant follows the Victorian theme of the resort and just feels like an extension of the beautiful lobby.
The Grand Floridian Cafe has one of Disney's gluten free / allergen free menus! It is pretty inclusive, but you always have the option to speak with a chef if you feel more comfortable or want something not listed on the menu!
My favorite gluten free appetizer from the Grand Floridian changes seasonally! The seasonal soups always please with creative combinations and fresh, seasonal flavors. The first soup was enjoyed in May I believe. This creamy potato soup is garnished with bacon and sriracha, a really great combo. In February, I tried the butternut squash soup! My personal favorite which is topped with an apple and bacon garnish with fresh cream.
The Grand Floridian Cafe also serves a delicious, traditional French onion soup. They do not hold back on the cheese (the best part of French onion!). This appetizer can be easily altered to be gluten free with a gluten free crouton.
The Grand Floridian Cafe has one of the best burgers in all of Disney World! It is called the "Surf and Turf Burger" and is served with a gluten free bun. This beauty is topped with sauteed lobster, arugula, and a red onion marmalade. WOW. The lobster is so tender, and the beef is perfectly juicy. The red onion marmalade adds an unexpected sweetness to every bite.
The burger can be served with house made chips or french fries fried in a dedicated fryer! I love the house made chips!
The cobb salad is an exclusive item to their lunch menu. The presentation is beautiful. Shredded lettuce is topped with chopped chives, tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, grilled chicken, avocado, and crisp bacon! The cobb salad is easily made gluten free by subbing a different cheese for the blue cheese. If I'm going to eat salad at Disney World (rare occurrence), this is how it's gonna be!
Honestly, I never really make it to dessert because I get too full by the end of the meal. But, once I made the sacrifice and tried out their chocolate fondue! It was good, but what you see is what you got with this one. Strawberries, bananas, pineapple, and marshmallows with a dipping chocolate. Gluten free brownies are available to be added to the plate also! I would rather fill up on the burger and skip the dessert. :)
Additional gluten free options: salmon, New York strip steak, shrimp and grits, and pasta with chicken, prosciutto, and peas, and more!
The Grand Floridian Cafe is the home to some of my gluten free Disney favorites! The ambiance and upscale feeling of this beautiful restaurant mixed with the traditional American fare just cannot be beat! I can't wait until my next visit.
